“Learning how to swim should be a part of every child’s education

We are confronted with water every day; in backyard pools, lakes, rivers, at the beach, off the boat.  Water is all around us. The swimming skills your children acquire today, will give them the ability and confidence to enjoy the water for a life time!

Safety First, Fun Every Second!

Are you serious about learning how to swim? And are you ready to feel confident in the water and also like to having fun? Join our weekly Regular Swim Programs! We are offering professional ABC Dutch swimming classes every Saturday and Sunday at Britannica International School. Our top coaches (from The Netherlands, UK and Guyana)will teach you to be a better swimmer. During classes there will be a certified lifeguard and first aid trained staff.

Feel safe and confident, play games to go under water, learn how to float and know how to survive in the water are the first steps to become a great swimmer!

When to start swimming lessons? We provide group lessons for children from 2,5 years old called toddler-parent classes. All the other levels (1-3 and Advanced B/C) are from 4,5 years and up.

Knowing all the elements of swimming (go under water, floating, jumping, breathing, turning, water treating, swim strokes)will give your child a safe feeling and controls the situation if he/she is falling in the water.
When children feel safe and confident in the water, they will learn how to perfect strokes, increase their skills and techniques. They will develop more speed, swim more lanes and be ready for competition!

What do children learn in the swimming class?

Learning should be approached simply. We feel that swimming strokes are most easily learned when broken down into smaller parts. Careful attention is given along the way, so that problems may be detected and corrected before they become habit.  As your child builds skill upon skill, a competent swimmer is born.

Intensive practice is important. What seems difficult the first time, may be done with ease the 31st time. Practice is very important, especially when combined with positive feedback and encouragement.

Each child has individual needs. The skills taught in each level of progression are carefully standardized. The needs of each child, however, are very non-standard. We design our classes to help the individual child.  A maximum of eight students per class permits the personal attention that is needed, while providing the fun and encouragement of being with others.
